Death Summary: Saint Laurent passed away from the effects of brain cancer at the age of 71 at his home in Paris, France, just several days after he was joined in a same-sex civil union called a "civil pact of solidarity" in France.
His body was cremated and the ashes scattered in Marrakech, Morocco in a botanical garden that he often enjoyed in life.

While in the army for 20 days, he was constantly harassed by other soldiers presumably for his sexuality and ended up being institutionalized after suffering from a nervous breakdown.
Saint Laurent was the first designer to feature black models in his runway shows.
