Another great loss but it came at the end of a marvellous and varied career. Will be missed by many,Tony was gorgeous and whenever he was interviewed he came across as a friendly extrovert without any airs(as often displayed by lesser souls). He was one of the great stars of the studio system and a national treasure.

I have always loved Tony’s old films – he was a gorgeous movie star in his youth. We have lost one of the great old true movie stars.
I had the pleasure of meeting Tony in Toronto when he was selling his art down in Yorkville. I will never forget the joy I felt when I met this great actor and when he gave me his autograph. I am sure he is with Janet dancing in heaven, just like in one of her musicals.
