Prior to his roles on the big screen, Hemsley was involved in various Broadway productions and acting companies. Apart from his success in The Jeffersons, Hemsley also starred in the well-known TV shows of: Amen, Dinosaurs, Goode Behavior, and the most recent series of Clunkers.

I grew up watching The Jefferson’s TV show. I looked forward to watching it every Saturday night. Sherman Hemsley made the character George Jefferson likeable. He really loved his family deep down inside. I also loved him on the show Amen. There’s a memorial page for Sherman Hemsley on Evertalk within Facebook.
