Just watched an episode of Rawhide that featured him. He had the kind of quiet tough guy image that many attempted, yet few were as authentic as Sheb Wooley.

I am just finding out about Sheb. My wife and I tape all the Rawhide shows and watch them at night. I happened to be watching the Country Music reunion and heard his name and went online to find out what all he’s been in.. Love him

  15. Christian Says:

I don’t think I have ever heard of this. That’s crazy. Okay, you’re gonna think I have really lost it, but I was a HUGE fan of the show Little House (ya know, Laura Ingalls) … Whenever they had a scene with kids pylaing in the background, you would hear the same loop. I know this because I could identify a child yelling, “Nelly, Willy catch up!” I swear to you, TS this same loop of kids pylaing in a school yard was heard on many other shows back around that time. I wish I could find it to confirm.

  16. Lila Chambers Says:

I just saw an article about him in an old TN magazine yesterday and was remembering him. Rawhide was my favorite show as a teenager. I never missed an episode. Loved the song too. Pete and Rowdy were my fav characters. I’ve been a country music fan all my life and I knew him as Ben Colder too. I now live outside Nashville and always hoped I’d get to meet him but didn’t. RIP Sheb. You were a special person.
