Cause of Death:
Training Accident

Death Summary: On January 10, 2012, Burke was seriously injured while training at Park City Mountain Resort Eagle superpipe in Park City, Utah. Onlookers reported that Burke completed her trick, but fell onto her head, but appeared fine. A few moments later she went into cardiac arrest. She was airlifted to the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City, where she was placed into a coma. She later underwent neurosurgery to repair a torn vertebral artery. She later succumbed to her injuries and passed away.

According to Burke's publicist "irreversible damage to her brain due to lack of oxygen and blood after cardiac arrest." Her organs were donated, as she had requested.

Who was Sarah Burke : Burke was a Canadain freestyle skier, and a pioneer of the superpipe event. She was a four-time Winter X Games gold medalist, and was the halfpipe world champion in 2005. She lobbied the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to have the event added to the Winter Olympics for the 2014 games. She was considered the favorite for the event.

  5. Virginia Wild Says:

May God be with your family during this difficult time. The Olympics will not be the same without you.

  6. Skismuldoon Says:

Why do a quadruple coin toss jump? When she could have done a light toot or a Negro League hey hey. We will never know now and that is tragic. What also is tragic is how the special Olympic skiers will not have her as a mentor anymore. She taught the unteachable how to ski. Simpletons with IQ’s under 60 learned from her teaching. That says it all to me, she loved the retarded and wanted to take even that lowest common denominator to the human race and make them learn something. Even if it meant nothing in real life it at least let us all know that even morons can win. Her beauty and sense of humor were a gift from the lord. Why couldn’t he have taken one of the feeble minded instead? Why do these

  7. Tori Says:

The pain of losing a loved one, especially at such a young age, is not one that heals quickly. May the following words from God’s Word prove to be a source of comfort and hope: At John 5:28, 29, our Lord promises, “Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out…” Very soon, God promises to permanently remove sickness, sorrow, and death (Revelation 21:4). Then those we have lost in death will be permanently resurrected, and all of our bodies and this earth shall be restored back to their originally created perfect state. It is my sincerest hope that you find comfort in this future promise during the painful days ahead.

  8. Pete Says:

To Skismuldoon who had all these negative things to say about retarded kids, you’re an asswipe.

  9. hannah edgecome Says:

  10. Skismuldoon Says:

Pete you can say what you want but the retarded are awsome. I love them and she did a great job with them and that’s the truth. So I said an idiot with the iq of your mother should have died instead of her and you became upset. I am sorry that I feel a person with great skills such as Sarah could be worth more than a plum headed morons life. We are not going to find many reasonable non Jesus freaks that disagree.

My deepest sympathy to the family. The loss of a dear loved one causes great emotional pain. The bible promises at Revelation 21:4 that one day death will be no more, gone will be the things that cause pain and tears of sorrow.
