Death Summary: Scheider's death was caused by complications from a staph infection according to his wife.

He had been diagnosed with the cancer multiple myeloma back in 2004, but had a bone marrow transplant and the cancer was considered to be in partial remission.

He passed away at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences Hospital (where Bill Gwatney died after being shot) at the age of 75.

Who was Roy Scheider : There is no question that Roy Richard Scheider was most famous for his role as Martin Brody in the mega-hit Steven Spielberg film Jaws.

He was nominated for an Academy Award for his role in All That Jazz, and his other most famous role was Captain Nathan Bridger on the Emmy-Winning TV Show SeaQuest DSV, which he starred on with the late Jonathan Brandis.

Scheider had a pretty extensive filmography appearing in other notable projects like Marathon Man, David Cronenberg's Naked Lunch, Gary Oldman vehicle Romeo is Bleeding, and 2004's The Punisher.

    Working for the railroad, I was killing time above the Park Avenue tunnel and saw Roy Schneider jogging by on the street.He saw that I noticed and nodded and winked. I smiled back. He seemed like a cool guy.
