Who was Rod Roddy : Robert Ray "Rod" Roddy is best known for being the announcer on The Price Is Right. Every episode featured his trademark "Your the next contestant on The Price Is Right" and "Come on Down!".
Roddy is also known for his brightly colored, often sequined, sport jackets. He first wore pastel coats made in Hong Kong, but soon switched his style to Thai silk for it's bright colors. Roddy would often travel to Thailand several times a year to have his clothing custom made.
After a rumored disagreement with Bob Barker, Roddy's on-camera appearances were cut from the show at the start of season 31. The shows owners & operators claimed that it was company policy that announcers were not to be shown on television. But, you might find it interesting that Rod Roddy's successor, Rich Fields, can be seen daily when the show airs.
