Death Summary: Robert McNamara died in his sleep at his Washington, D.C. home in the early morning hours of July 6, 2009. He was 93.

Who was Robert McNamara : McNamara was the eighth Secretary of Defense, serving for Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson from 1961 to 1968. After his Defense Secretary days were done he served as President of the World Bank from 1968 until 1981. McNamara is credited with the institution of systems analysis in public policy, which developed into policy analysis.
