Death Summary: Prince died at the age of 57. His body was reportedly discovered at his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota with multiple sources confirming his passing. Prince had had a medical emergency six days prior, which led to his private jet making an emergency landing. He performed after this, however, and told fans he was ok. It had been reported that he had the flu.

Who was Prince : Prince Rogers Nelson, better known as simply Prince (or at one point "The Artist Formerly Known as Prince" or an unpronounceable symbol), was a singer, songwriter, musician, and actor. He was a huge, iconic pop sensation with an impressive career spanning from the mid-seventies through 2016 when he met his untimely demise.

His music was hugely popular and influential. It combined elements of rock, soul, R&B, funk, hip hop, pop, and other styles. While he had plenty of hits of his own, he also had a significant number of well-known songs that he wrote, but were more well-known for other artists' performances. These included Nothing Compares 2 U (which Sinead O'Connor made famous), Manic Monday (by The Bangles), The Glamourous Life (Sheila E.), and Jungle Love (The Time), among others.

Prince had almost too many hits to name, but they included 1999, Little Red Corvette, When Doves Cry, Let's Go Crazy, Purple Rain, I Would Die 4 U, Raspberry Beret, Kiss, U Got the Look, Gett Off, Cream, and Diamonds and Pearls.

His discography includes: For You, Prince, Dirty Mind, Controversy, 1999, Purple Rain, Around the World in a Day, Parade, Sign O' The Times, Lovesexy, Batman, Graffiti Bridge, Diamonds and Pearls, Love Symbol Album, Come, The Black Album, The Gold Experience, Chaos and Disorder, Emancipation, Crystal Ball, The Truth, The Vault: Old Friends 4 Sale, Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic, The Rainbow Children, One Nite Alone, Xpectation, N.E.W.S., Musicology, The Chocolate Invasion, The Slaughterhouse, 3121, Planet Earth, Lotusflow3r, MPLSound, 20Ten, Plectrumelectrum, Art Official Age, and HITnRUN Phases One and Two. This doesn't even include additional live albums and compilations.

Prince appeared in the following films: Purple Rain, Under the Cherry Moon, Sign o' The Times, and Graffiti Bridge. He directed all but Purple Rain, though it was the most well known of the bunch.
