Death Summary: Postlethwaite died in the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital after a long lasting battle with testicular cancer.

Who was Pete Postlethwaite : Pete Postlethwaite was a highly studied actor, who became a famous character actor during his career. He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, and accrued many accolade nominations during his career.

Postlethwaite was born in Warrington, England the youngest of four siblings. He originally trained as a teacher at St. Mary's College, and went on to teach drama at Loreto College. He then studied acting at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

Postlethwaite's career started in theatre, where he worked with Bill Nighy, Jonathan Pryce, Anthony Sher, and Julie Walters. He would then move onto movies, and television. His first breakout role came in 1988, with the film, 'Distant Voices, Still Lives'.

After his first major role, Postlethwaite followed it up with numerous Hollywood roles including: Alien 3, The Last of the Mohicans, and his Academy Award nominated performance in 'In the Name of the Father'. He would continue his long running career, and his most recent performances were in the huge blockbusters, Inception and The Town.

Postlethewaite was an environmental activist, who starred in an environmentally charged movie, The Age of Stupid. During the premier he promised to return a medal given to him by England if they installed coal-fired units at the Kingsnorth power station.

Postlethwaite had a long battle with testicular cancer, which started in 1990. He was married to Jacqueline Morrish in 2003, and they had two children William, and Lily.

    I was sorry to see his performance in Usual Suspects was not mentioned. In that movie he went toe to toe with some of Hollywood’s best and gave a sterling performence.

    I thought he was great in Brassed Off and was a clasisc arch villan in Sharpe. That pretty much limits my knowledge of his acting but, that was enough for me to respect his ability. Not sure he deserved all the praise lavished on him in news, but then they were asking other luvvies .
