Death Summary: Paul Benedict was found dead at his Martha’s Vineyard home by his brother on December 1, 2008. He was 70 years old.

Who was Paul Benedict : Benedict was a famed character actor who is probably best remembered for his roles of The Number Painter on Sesame Street, and the English neighbor “Harry Bentley” on the classic television show The Jeffersons.

On top of his various television and film careers, Benedict was an accomplished theater actor as well. He was most recently in The Music Man, which ran from 2000 – 2001.

He also directed theater productions as well, some of his credits include Frank Conroy’s “Any Given Day”, Terrence McNally’s “Frankie and Johnny in the Claire de Lune”, and Kathy Najimy and Mo Gaffney’s “The Cathy and Mo Show”.
