Death Summary: In January 2008 Patrick Swayze was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and began undergoing chemotherapy and various other treatments at the Stanford University Medical Center. It was confirmed by his doctor that Swayze was diagnosed with Papillary Mucinous Neoplasm (IPMN). In May 2008 Swayze underwent Cyberknife radiotherapy cancer treatment to aid his battle against the disease.
In January 2009 Swayze denied that the cancer had spread to his liver, but shortly after told Barbara Walters that he had a “tiny little mass” in his liver. Soon after his interview he was hospitalized with pneumonia, which was said to have been a complication due to the chemotherapy. He was released from the hospital a week after being admitted.
Who was Patrick Swayze : Swayze was a dancer, singer-songwriter and an iconic actor with numerous cinematic greats on his resume. Some of his best films include The Outsiders, Red Dawn, Point Break, Ghost, Dirty Dancing and of course Road House.
Swayze got his start as a dancer for Disney on parade. Soon after, he got the part of Danny Zuko in the Broadway theatre production of Grease. It wasn’t until he played the older brother of C. Thomas Howell in The Outsiders that people started to notice his talent. In 1985 Swayze was cast in the television miniseries North and South, this was his first major success.
1987 saw the release of the cult classic, Dirty Dancing. Swayze was cast opposite Jennifer Grey, whom he had previously worked with on Red Dawn. Dirty Dancing wasn’t suppose to be successful, it was a low budget film that was only suppose to be in theatres for one weekend and go straight to video. The films popularity reached so far that alternate versions were made which ranged from a television series to a computer game. Altogether Dirty Dancing has made over $300-million dollars worldwide.
With his newfound stardom, Swayze found himself being typecast as a “beefcake” and went on to star in numerous movies that never really done his career justice. During this time period he starred in one of the most underrated movies of the 1980s Road House. In the film he played Dalton, a professional “cooler” who is hired to fix the problems at the Double Deuce. Road House also stars Sam Elliot features performances by Jeff Healey.
The 1990s started off very promising for Swayze. His film Ghost, also starring Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg, would go on to become his biggest critical success. The very next year he starred alongside Keanu Reeves in the action hit Point Break. That same year he was chosen as the years “Sexiest Man Alive” by People magazine.
Swayze’s career began to cool off in the mid 1990s starring in films such as Tall Tale, Black Dog, Father Hood, To Wong Foo, Thanks Everything! Julie Newmar to name a few. Some feel that his alcoholism, which he sought treatment for, played a role in the decline of his career.
In 2001 he co-starred in Donnie Darko, a low budget cult classic where he played a motivational speaker and closet pedophile.
Most recently Swayze took the lead role in the A&E television series The Beast. In the show Swyze plays FBI Agent Charles Barker.

I am very saddened by the news that Patrick Swayze has passed away. He seemed like a very nice and caring individual. God Bless Lisa.
Patrick gave us his BEST in every movie. He deserved an Oscar for his acting in “CITY OF JOY”… The world needs to see this movie!!!
Patrick was great in “Ghost” and “Dirty Dancing”, as well. Patrick’s Soul Light lives on with us who loved him so dearly. Our love surrounds his family and his beautiful wife, Lisa.
How I wish the world could see the magazine photo of Patrick facing his magnificent Arabian stallion. (Lisa, remember “the photo”?) That photo is extremely artistic in Beauty. His Love and Strength is visible in it.
Everyone, remember the glory in Patrick’s face as heperformed in “North and South” … He always had “glory” in his face.
Now his Soul KNOWS Glory!!!
And all is well.
thanks for making this dull planet a better place. you will be missed , rest in peace patrick.
We Loved Patrick as both an actor and the Man he was, He was a man of his word He said he was going to fight this to the very end and he did. A fighter he was and he will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him even if it was through his movies that we knew him. Prayers to all he left to Cherish his memory. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

I JUST CANNOT EXPRESS THE SADNESS I FEEL WITH PATRICKS PASSING. HE WAS A WONDERFUL MAN. I JUST FEEL SO SORRY FOR HIS WIFE AND FAMILY BECAUSE THERE WAS SO MUCH LOVE THERE. I KNOW IT MUST BE REALLY DEVASTING TO ALL. HE FOUGHT A GOOD FIGHT. BUT, HE IS WITH THE LORD JESUS NOW. REJOICE IN THAT KNOWLEDGE. HE HAS LEFT HIS FOOTPRINTS IN THIS WORLD AND WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. HE WAS LOVED ENORMOUSLY. I FEEL AS IF I KNEW HIM, AND CRIED AS IF I DID.

Dear Friend:
I express my sincere condolences to the family of Patrick Swayze
When death separates family members, such great loss can result in deep sorrow. Abraham wept over the death of his beloved wife, Sarah. (Genesis 23:2) Even the perfect man Jesus “gave way to tears” when his friend Lazarus died. (John 11:35) So it is natural to experience sadness when death claims someone you love. However, Christians know that there will be a resurrection. (Acts 24:15)
Think what it would mean to see a time when death would be no more! Never would you have to go to a cemetery and mourn the loss of someone you loved. Never would you experience the heartache of looking at a marker that tells where your loved one is lying in the ground beneath your feet. Instead, your loved ones would always be with you in the land of the living. That such a time will come is not empty imagination. It will be a reality as surely as the sun rises every morning. It is a dependable promise, given by the only One capable of fulfilling it.
Jehovah is eager to bestow blessings. We have every reason to place complete confidence in the promises of Jehovah, “the God of truth.”—Psalm 31:5.
May Jehovah bless you and your family with peace.

What a wonderful man! Patrick was an example of how celebrities should behave - with pride and self composure. I never heard anything about him cheating on his lovely wife, being arrested for foolish behavior, etc. What a terribly tragic loss - my absolute respect and condolences to his wife, mother, and family.
