This is a great loss to the literary world. Crichton provided thrilling and entertaining stories while making scientific fiction seem extremely plausible. Often, the detail and brilliance with which he told his stories were even more thrilling than the stories themselves. These elements pushed his stories to a whole ‘nother level beyond other prestigious fiction writers.

He will always be a big part of my life in the adventures he has given me through his mind .miss you ..
does anyone know what type of cancer he died from? Was it some form of leukemia or prostate cancer? I hope they go ahead and publish his last novel. His books were wonderful.
This is a great loss to not just the literary world, but the world in general as well. Mr. Crichton’s work was so thrilling and brilliant. He knew how to go beyond the sci-fi world and look into the world around us then combine the two. I loved his work on the show E.R. and am very saddened to see it go off the air but not as saddened as the loss of a great writer as this. My prayers are with his family at this great time of loss.
I’m not into books but e.r. and jurassic park a both extreamly good. and i would like to send my best wishes to the family
I read his first books when I was about 14, Eaters of the Dead, which became 13th Warrior, not many people know it was based on a true story, my favourite.

Books. You will surely be missed by so many.

Michael Crichton whom I met once at a convention of fellow authors was (is, will always be) an amazing writer, with such a far-reaching set of plot sources — many which required enormous amounts of research — and yet his work reads freely and easily evincing the old writer’s motto: “East reading makes for hard writing.” He was a master of all he surveryed and I am still — as I read State of Fear as we speak — shocked and saddened that Michael should be taken away while still so youn and vibrant and with who knows how many more literary masterpieces in that uniquely gifted brain that we will never see. I always thought Michael was so smart and so up on everything that he could surely find a way to escape death — and I like to think that — thru some Quantam Leap — he is still alive and happy in the lost world of his choice.
