Death Summary: Marge Schott was a lifelong smoker, and began to develop some health problems in 2001. She was hospitalized twice due to breathing problems shortly after. On February 9, 2004 Schott was hospitalized, though the reasoning is unclear. During that stay her condition worsened and she was put on life support. She died at the age of 75.

Who was Marge Schott : Schott was the controversial partner, president and CEO of the Cincinnati Reds from 1984 to 1999. She was the first woman to purchase a professional baseball team instead of inheriting it.

She is also remembered for making slurs against African-Americans, Jews, Japanese, and gays. She was banned from managing the team from 1996 - 1998 for numerous statements sympathizing with Nazi party leader Adolf Hitler.
