Kirk Urso was a well-known soccer player (midfielder position) from Downers Grove, Illinois.
While attending college at the University of North Carolina, Urso was a 2011 NSCAA All-South Region First Team selection. After his college soccer career, The Columbus Crew (an American professional soccer club, based in Columbus, Ohio which competes in Major League Soccer) selected and signed Urso on March 1st, 2012, and had been playing with them ever since.

So hard to believe he is gone. I will never forget his huge infectious smile. I know young people that looked up to him, older people that were amazed by him, friends that were happy to be around him and I know everyone that met him loved him. So hard to understand, my heart hurts for those that were close to him. Rest in peace, heaven is a better place with that angel there.

On the morning of August 5, 2012, Urso was at a local bar/ restaurant with friends, when he collapsed and fell unconscious. He was taken to a nearby hospital when found outside by police who happened to be in the area for an unrelated call, where he suffered cardiac arrest. He was pronounced dead at 1:50 AM local time, after several attempts at resuscitation. He was 22 years old.
Autopsy results revealed Urso actually died from arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy. [5]
