I was/ am a big fan of Kevin, his career to many might seam like a footnote in the baseball world, but the man was more then that to me. … I was a shy, overweight kid that used to get autographs and this guy always took the time to sign things for me…but there’s a lot more. Im not from Chicago, but from SF so I would only see him a few times a year and I used to frame up his new baseball cards and give them to him. Also not having much money growing up, my mom saved aLONG time and drove me the 700 miles to see him in an for spring training. He remembered who I was and played catch with me on the field…. To this day, I still count that one of the best days of my life. Words of advice, lessons, and little cit chat BS. It might have seemed like a nightmare to many ballpayers, but not to him. Thanks Kevin, I will always remember that day, you and everything you were.
