Death Summary: Pesky reportedly passed away at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers at the age of 92. The exact cause of death was not immediately revealed.

Who was Johnny Pesky : Johnny Pesky was born John Michael Paveskovich, and became known as John Michael "Johnny" Pesky. He was also nicknamed "The Needle". He was an American baseball player, who played shortstop and third base for ten years in the Major League. He went on to become a manager and coach.

While he played for the Washington Senators and the Detroit Tigers late in his playing career, Pesky was known mostly for being on the Red Sox, where he spent the majority of his time in the league.

Pesky played for the Red Sox in 1942, then again from 1946 to 1952. He missed 1943-1945 to serve in World War II. In 1963, he became a manager, managing the Sox until '64, and then returning in 1980.

He was an all star in 1946, and his Red Sox jersey, #6, went on to be retired. His biography was called Mr. Red Sox.
