Joey Ramone

Born: 1951-05-19 - Died: 2001-04-15
Cause of Death:

Death Summary: After living with Lymphoma for over 4 years, Joey Ramone passed away as a result of it at the age of 49.

After his death, a city block in New York City was named Joey Ramone Place in his honor.

Who was Joey Ramone : Joey Ramone's real name was Jeffry Ross Hyman and he was of course the frontman for the legendary punk rock band The Ramones.

He was 6 feet 8 inches tall and suffered from OCD. His appearance was sort of his trademark - sunglasses and long hair in his face.

He often sang about meeting girls (often at fast food joints and convenience stores) and falling in and out of love, but also liked to sing about surfing scenarios and horror themes such as in the songs Chainsaw and Pet Sematary (which was featured in the movie of the same title). In fact, Stephen King (who wrote the story from which the film was adapted) is a Ramones fan himself.

cant explain it. magical, dynamic, perfect, symbolic, powerful. such simple presence but made me feel like nothing else mattered and it did not as long as they kept playing and joey kept singing. no band, no voice will ever make me feel the way they did and the way joey did. This man was taken away to damn soon from this world but it makes sense. when you have completed what you came for and what you set out to do then it is lights out, it still was not enough and it will never be enough. i want more more more and i am angry but i hope and pray he has found the peace his soul needs…dam, joey i miss you….

Joey was the best rock band’s lead singer ever, he was sexy, he had style, class, personality and an amazing voice. He was an artist in the true meaning of the word, a real man, a legend, and no one will ever perform the way Joey did. His tall, skinny, haired (and beautiful) figure stole my heart forever. On stage, his powerful voice talked, and still talks, straight to my heart and mind. Out of stage, his shy, gentle boy’s soul touched me deeply inside. Nobody will ever replace him. He dared to be what he was, that’s the great magic of Joey. I wish he was among us to achieve his project of opening a radio station, to play and talk about music. I’m sure he would have very much success, considering his great talent. Joey, I pray every night for you, hope to meet you one day… I love you and miss you so much…

I hear your angst Joeymom and in an attempt to help I am going to get brave here and icrnodute you to another resource out there for parents such as you. Please excuse me if this sounds like self promotion but I believe it is important that parents such as you know there are people such as me out there as another option to try.I am a parent educator and parent coach who supports parents of young children diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. As a licensed social worker, I worked in the school system for fifteen years, advocating for parents of special needs children so I know my way around the system and how to help parents find there way to get the services their children need to reach their full potential. I work with parents to uncover their child’s abilities and find the way to make them shine as the unique individual that they are. I am also an expert in conflict resolution and bully prevention which is another big issue for all kids but especially this vulnerable population.I encourage parents to explore the option of the help you can receive from a qualified parent coach from the comfort of your own home by phone. I have Parent Coaching Institute colleagues that are just as well trained and competent as I. Google PCI parent coach with the word autism or special needs and see what you find. It may be just the thing you have been looking for.I wish you well and should you choose to post this comment I hope it helps some parents find a great new resource.
