My father, Burl Reeder, was a rodeo clown at a rodeo where Jimmy Boyd was appearing someplace in Ohio in the mid to late 50's and saved Jimmy Boyd from serious injury when a bull jumped into the crowd and chased Jimmy into a locker room where he hid in a locker until my dad could wrangle the bull back to its pen. My dad traveled with Jimmy for a short time riding and clowning in rodeos where Jimmy did personal appearances. My dad had a trick mule named "Amos" and I have several pictures of Jimmy and the mule. My father always spoke well of Jimmy Boyd.

Jimmy's older brother Kenny and I were sixth graders in Mr. Reno's class in the West Riverside (California) Elementary School in 1948-49. Jimmy mentioned to me at that time that his little brother could play the spanish guitar as I also was trying to learn. We arrainged to meet the next day after school at his house and exchange ideas. I can still recall riding my bicycle down the road to where we would meet and seeing Jimmy standing in the road with his bicycle. Later that day we exchanged whatever knowledge we had about guitar chords we had. His teacher in the 4th grade then was Miss Arbuckle and she was the one who pushed Jimmy to first appear on the Al Jarvis TV Shoe which at that time was co-hosted by a very young Betty White.
God Bless you Jimmy. Rest peacefully.
Jimmy's older brother Kenny was later in my home room class (7th grade taught by Mr. Grundy) at the Chemawa Jr. High School, Riverside, Calif.
