Death Summary: Jerry Reed died from complications from emphysema at age 71 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Who was Jerry Reed : Reed was a country music singer and actor. He received the Best Male Country Vocal Performance in 1972 for his song “When You’re Hot, You’re Hot.

He also recorded the theme song for the first Smokey and the Bandit movie and played “Snowman”, Cletus Snow.

He is probably commonly known as Coach Red Beaulieu in the comedy "The Waterboy" which starred Adam Sandler.

    i find it somewhat sad that jerry reed is mostly remembered as a singer of novelty songs and for his roles in a few light comedies.this man was one of the most innovative guitarists of our time….in musician circles he is mentioned with people like chet atkins etc.however in most obits there is rarely a word.rest easy mr. reed.

    I wished that I had met Jerry Reed. My entire family always loved his songs, pickin, and humor! I have a brother that plays guitar. I grow up with Chet, and Jerry too. I love guitar playing, especially someone who is self taught. My brother knew Tommy Jones. Tommy died in his forties where my brother lived in Cross City, Florida. I am so glad that Jerry did live a good long life, and did’nt die so terrible young like so many talented souls do. I hope to get to see you in heaven one day Jerry!
