Jack Kirby

Born: 1917-08-28 - Died: 1994-02-06
Cause of Death:
Heart Failure

Death Summary: Jack Kirby (Jacob Kurtzberg) died in his Thousand Oaks, California home of heart failure.

Who was Jack Kirby : Kirby was one of the most recognizable, prolific, and influential comic artists of all time. He co-created some of the greatest comic book icons such as the Fantastic Four, X-Men, the Hulk, Captain America, and literally hundreds more.

Without having any formal training, Kirby got his start in comics in when he met Fox editor Joe Simon. They began a working relationship that would last over twenty years.

The two went on to develop Captain America for Timely Comics (the future Marvel Comics), with its cinematic techniques and exaggerated action… Captain America was an instant success.

Kirby began working with Stan Lee in the 1950s; the two would go on to create the veritably “whose who” of the comic genre.

A Life Well Wasted used to be my favorite video game retaled podcast because Robert Ashley talked about video game retaled subjects that other shows didn’t. Then Mr. Ashley got high and forgot about the show. Started working on his next I went to Hong Kong album or whatever. But much like his forty-five to an hour, you guys are giving me perspective on a segment of the industry that I wish was covered more, and talk about subjects that are rarely touched upon by your peers. So now you’re my favorite show. Keep up the good work, and remember, don’t get high and forget about your show!
