  3. Tin Says:

Well, after reading Meroney’s full itirevnew with this horror-show, ”twisted old has-been degenerate desperate for attention“ certainly seems a lot more accurate than “sharp provocateur, as irascible and irreverent as ever.” Good Lord, how did he reach 83 so full of poison? And, given the opportunities he was afforded ever since entering the army (which he states saved him) at 17, why such contempt for this country? He insists it was our anti-semitism that got poor Polanski. Obama he credits with being highly educated and rather better than a country like this deserves. And he wittily identifies American values as Lying and cheating. Venom comes in all political persuasions, and Vidal seems too far gone to represent any one ideology. What seems really sick to me is that he is still published, promoted, and lauded as an American literary and cultural icon.
