George Carlin
Born: 1937-05-12 - Died: 2008-06-22Cause of Death: Heart Failure
Death Summary: George Carlin died at the age of 71 when his heart gave out after being admitted to St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, California for having chest pains. He died the same day.
Carlin's death was covered extensively by the media somewhat ironically as Carlin himself once said, "I dread the deaths of certain super-celebrities. Not because I care about them, but because of all the shit I have to endure on television when one of them dies. All those tributes and retrospectives. And the bigger the personality, the worse it is."
Carlin was cremated and had no public or religious services performed as he had previously requested.
Who was George Carlin : George Carlin was widely regarded as one of the best comedians of all time. He was awarded four Grammies for his comedy albums. His most famous bit about the seven words you are not allowed to say on television was actually used as reference in a Supreme Court case regarding the government's power to regulate "indecent" material on public airwaves.

I think George Carlin’s comments about religion and how it is the ‘biggest bullshit department ever’ is right on the mark. I have the book ‘Celebrities in Hell’ and he is listed with that famous comment. Carlin’s comments will live and bring laughter long after his death. I’m glad I was able to live during Carlin’s lifetime and watch, listen, read and enjoy this great man tell it like it really was and is. Long live George Carlin. Dennis Chamberlain
Not every comedian is an intellectual, but George made the great exception, insulting every snob equally, not to mention those who like to impose ideals and all other bs… God created and knew George well, as a matter of fact, I bet HE is enjoying George’s comments in heaven…

First time I was exposed to George..orge.orge-that name just goes on and On and ON-was in the early ’70′s. My sons (4 of them) grow-up listening to Carlin. The hippy dippy weatherman lives on. Forecast for the night…dark. Hope to see you on the other side.
What a great man
You will be greatly missed….Sorry to see a great comedian go.
George without you where will the truth come from. RIP, my hero.
Some people really hated him, but we, as a conscious species, needed him. He said what people think, but are often afraid to say. He knocked down barriers. Really funny, extremely bright guy.
george will be rememberd forever
A person who showed me how comedy is all around us 24/7. May you rest peacfully.
George Carlin was the undisputed and real king of comedy! May he rest in peace. And he’s neither in heaven or hell. He’s either in the sun or on somebody’s roof.
RIP
George Carlin is my all-time favorite comedian. Hilariously funny, on the mark, and brutally honest. I miss you, George.
Each insult in Religious /Political and other stuff where quite good and he was well prepared to say out loud what he thought . I liked his perspective of life , i think now is the time to delete the contact in my computer of him .
May he watch us from up there and smile up on us …
Anyhow rest in piece George.
Regards
-Alar

My Comment continues from every~!~
He and I had more in common than just our first name and last initial. We seemed to think alike, especially about sensitive subjects.
joanne katz-silverstein still thinks this man george carlin was penomenal and so on target re everything he spoke of. He entertained in the hook and ladder club of the beverly hills hotel in toronto ontario canada during my son Jeff’s bar mitzvah, what a treat he was to hear then, also

You were by far the biggest inspiration in my life. I cried when I hear the news. But your thoughts and words will forever be in my heart and mind. George Carlin was the Socrates of my time, and i don’t think anyone would argue that. The only religion I claim is stand up comedy. Thank you George, for everything.
(Fill in your God) Bless…lol
The smell of your own farts aren’t that bad (paraphrasing). Wonder how his farts smelled.
I can’t believe you died… just like that…
The world’s a fucked up place and it needs you..
There are very less people who speak the truth, who have the courage to show this fucking world its right place.. you were one of them….
Come back if possible…
We’ll wait for you
you will be greatly missed
Thanx for saying what most of us would love to say to the world.
Thank you for making the most sense I have ever heard. You even made me laugh. You were/are the BEST comedian EVER! Like you I am a sun worshiper and pray to Joe Pesci, because like you said my prayers are answered at a 50% rate. To rap this up I will put my 2 favorite quotes of the great George Carlin.
“In the Bullshit Department, a businessman can’t hold a candle to a clergyman. ‘Cause I gotta tell you the truth, folks. When it comes to bullshit, big-time, major league bullshit, you have to stand in awe of the all-time champion of false promises and exaggerated claims: religion. No contest. No contest. Religion. Religion easily has the greatest bullshit story ever told. Think about it. Religion has actually convinced people that there’s an invisible man — living in the sky — who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever ’til the end of time! But He loves you. He loves you, and He needs money! He always needs money! He’s all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can’t handle money! Religion takes in billions of dollars, they pay no taxes, and they always need a little more. Now, you talk about a good bullshit story. Holy Shit!”
“I’ve begun worshiping the Sun for a number of reasons. First of all, unlike some other gods I could mention, I can see the Sun. It’s there for me every day. And the things it brings me are quite apparent all the time: heat, light, food, a lovely day. There’s no mystery, no one asks for money, I don’t have to dress up, and there’s no boring pageantry. And interestingly enough, I have found that the prayers I offer to the sun and the prayers I formerly offered to God are all answered at about the same 50-percent rate”
I remember him at his debut.A little crude but, somewhat cerebral. It was intriguing yet, amusing.I loved the way he mature over the years. All good things has an end but,in this case its just an interlude.
I grew up on George Carlin he taught me so much, I was in prison when he died. He will be missed,I wonder what he would say about this country now?
You’re all sick!
Funny Guy. I didn’t agree with his religious views.
He was the best Cant say anything but that. R.I.P.Gatta love the guy he was
What a great thinker and philosopher who happened to be a comedian (“who happens to be…”)! I’ve always enjoyed George, but it was not until recently that I really understood what he was trying to tell me.
I recently started telling people that I’m now attending church — the church of George.

You were the best comedian in my category, no doubt about it. I study your technique and delivery everyday of my life. I try to idolize you in every aspect of the word as a growing comedian. Theres no one on the comedy quite like you and never will be, because these fucks dont have the balls. But I would be honored to have such a brilliant delivery technique such as yours and I work on it everyday I breathe. I cant tell you how much youve inspired to put the truth back on the stage such as you have. In time my friend…in time. May you Rest In Peace and I hope to bring back your memory to the stage one day.
