Death Summary: At the age of 74 (less than a month before his 75th birthday in fact) Rogers passed away as a result of stomach cancer.

He was interred in a mausoleum at Latrobe's Unity Cemetery in Pittsburgh.

Who was Fred Rogers : Fred McFeely Rogers will forever be known as the beloved sweater-wearing, shoe-changing Mr. Rogers from Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood.

He dazzled children for decades with his land of make believe - a kingdom of talking puppets that you were transported to via a small red trolley.

The show ran new episodes from 1968 to 2001, and it is still rerun today. It holds the record for longest-running PBS show and had 998 episodes.

I was already an adult when Mister Rogers first aired, but I still enjoyed his programs because of his sincerity. He loved the children off camera as well as on. Who will we call now when there is a disaster that frightens the children?

  8. bernajean Says:

Jim, he was never in any branch of the military. That is just an unfounded rumor and has been proven false.
