She suffered from Osteoporosis and Lewy Body Dementia, it's unclear if either of these are a factor in her death.
Who was Estelle Getty : Estelle Getty, better known as Sophia Petrillo, was the wise cracking mother of Dorothy Zbornak on The Golden Girls. Getty played a woman in her 80's... but in actuality she was younger than the actress who played her daughter.
Golden girls ran from 1985 - 1992 on NBC, winning numerous awards. Getty herself won both an Emmy and Golden Globe.

I would like to write that Estelle gave me many many times of laughter. The Golden Girls is one of my favorite old sitcoms ever. My mother and I spend many days watching them during a lengthy hospital stay I had. Estelle will be missed very much. May she be blessed and have peace in Heaven.
