Death Summary: White had struggled with Alzheimer's Disease for years before it finally got the better of him in 1985.
He passed away at his farm home in North Brooklin, Maine and was buried next to his wife at Brooklin Cemetery.
Who was E.B. White : Elwyn Brooks White was an American author, whose most famous book would have to be the children's classic Charlotte's Web, a story that has since been made into a film twice (not including sequels).
He started out as an editor, and then a columnist for various New York publications, and then in the 30s decided to start writing children's books.
He started out with Stuart Little, which is quite popular as well, and has also had movies based on it, then he wrote what many consider to be his masterpiece - Charlotte's Web - the tale of a little girl who wishes to save her pet pig from the slaughter but the pig must ultimately seek the friendship of a spider to help him as the girl turns her focus to boys. It is probably one of the best stories about friendship ever told, and certainly the greatest among friendship between animals.
White won a number of awards including the Laura Ingalls Wilder Medal, a Pulitzer Prize and a Presidential Medal of Freedom.
