Donald Pleasence
Born: 1919-10-05 - Died: 1995-02-02Cause of Death: Surgical Complications
Death Summary: Donald Pleasence was seventy-five years old when he died from complications from heart valve replacement surgery in St.-Paul-de-Vence, France.
Who was Donald Pleasence : Pleasence was well-known as the James Bond villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld from "You Only Live Twice", a character that is the obvious inspiration for Mike Myer's Austin Powers villain Dr. Evil, but Pleasence is probably even more well-known for his ties to a different Mike Myers.
That would of course be Michael Myers of the "Halloween" series of movies. Pleasence played Dr. Sam Loomis who hunted Michael through the first six films (excluding part 3 which followed a separate storyline) until Pleasance's death which prevented him from being in any of the future installments (although his character did die in part 6).
Pleasence appeared in many other films over the years from classics like "The Great Escape" and John Carpenter's "Escape from New York" to Carpenter's less lauded "Prince of Darkness" and Dario Argento's less-than-stellar Phenomena.
Pleasence also did some stage acting.

Donald, I remember you when I was just a kid and TV was new. You were in Armchair Theatre and others. You were a great actor and went on the frighten many other people too over your long career. Rest in Peace Donald, you are still the best. RIP.
They just don’t make actors like this anymore. I 1st noticed him in halloween. That movie would not have even been scary without the frame and mood Mr. Pleasence provided for the Myer’s character.
donald we are talking about evil on 2 legs

RIP, Donald!! We ALL Miss You!! You Were Great In Halloween: The Curse Of Michael Myers!! You Were A VERY Great Actor, In Fact You Were The Greatest Actor ALIVE!! No One Can Replace You!! I Love You
Thought Dr. Loomis was the best shrink a child could have, great role.
Mr. Pleasence,
We, your many fans, have not forgotten you, and we never will forget you.
My very first exposure was watching you as Dr. Sam Loomis in the original Halloween. I enjoyed your performance in that film so much that I went on from there to deliberately seek out and watch many other types of films. Films which I probably would not have thought to look at twice, but for your marvelous acting presence.
I do not like the newest installments of Halloween and Halloween 2. However, one thing it has done, possibly the only good thing, is that it served to remind me of just how great your performance of Loomis was in those original films. You were every bit as important, if not more so, than Michael Myers. No one else, not even Malcolm McDowell, who I am sure did the very best he could with what little he was given, will ever be Loomis.
You made Sam Loomis, and so many other overlooked characters, really come to life for us throughout your life, and I cannot say “thank you” enough for providing us with such entertainment and inspiration.
Please forgive the filmmakers for that last atrocious butchery of the character of Sam Loomis, for they no not what they do. I may not forgive them, though.
We no what has been done.
We miss you, Sir.
R.I.P.

Donald u were a GREAT actor. U played the best Dr.Loomis. I know I’m a little late to be posting this but I just watched Halloween-Curse Of Michael Myers and saw the “In Memory of Donald Pleasence” and I was wondering how u died so I looked it up and found this page. Well, anyway Donald was a fabulous actor and if he wasn’t in the Halloween movies they would be toatally different and not as good.
one great english actor RIP
No one can convince me through acting like you could. You are missed.
I am amazed that no one for the exception om my self lauded you on your exemplary performance as Preacher Quint in the Movie: Will Penny, starring, (besides yourself) Charleston Heston, Bruce Dern, Joan Hackett, Ben Johnson and several other notables. You are a most convincing and accomplished gentleman. I think of you often and wish you God’s peace.
