Death Summary: Donald Pleasence was seventy-five years old when he died from complications from heart valve replacement surgery in St.-Paul-de-Vence, France.

Who was Donald Pleasence : Pleasence was well-known as the James Bond villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld from "You Only Live Twice", a character that is the obvious inspiration for Mike Myer's Austin Powers villain Dr. Evil, but Pleasence is probably even more well-known for his ties to a different Mike Myers.

That would of course be Michael Myers of the "Halloween" series of movies. Pleasence played Dr. Sam Loomis who hunted Michael through the first six films (excluding part 3 which followed a separate storyline) until Pleasance's death which prevented him from being in any of the future installments (although his character did die in part 6).

Pleasence appeared in many other films over the years from classics like "The Great Escape" and John Carpenter's "Escape from New York" to Carpenter's less lauded "Prince of Darkness" and Dario Argento's less-than-stellar Phenomena.

Pleasence also did some stage acting.
