Death Summary: The cause of Laurentiis' death is unknown at this time. It is reported he was surrounded by loved ones.

Who was Dino De Laurentiis : Dino De Laurentiis is a renowned producer in both Italy, and America. He is responsible for producing over 160 movies in his career. Many of these movies are considered classic, with a few being cult classics.

Laurentiis didn't grow up in the entertainment world, as he sold spaghetti his father made. He was born in the Italian province of Naples, and he would eventually attend a cinematography school in Rome. During this time, his studies were interrupted by World War II. He then joined the Italian army.

He would eventually finish his studies, and would go on to produce his first movie: L'ultimo Combattimento (1940). He would begin his own production company in 1946, and would be involved in many neorealist films. These include: Bitter Rice, La Strada, and Nights of Cabiria. Throughout the 50's and 60's, Laurentiis would produce many italian movies.

In the 70's, he would venture over to the United States. He started another company in the states, and produce many renowned movies in the early 70s, including: Serpico, Death Wish, and the King Kong remake. He continues producing movies into the 2000's, with his last producer credit being for Hannibal Rising.

Laurentiis is survived by his current wife, Martha Schumacher, and five children.
