Chris Marker (born as Christian François Bouche-Villeneuve) was a well-known science fiction film writer and director from Neuilly-sur-Seine, Île-de-France. Marker's most well-known works include: La Jetée (1962), and Sans Soleil (1983).
Prior to his involvement in film, Marker studied philsophy prior to the second world war, and also traveled to various places around the world as a journalist and photographer. His most recent work in film involves integrated multimedia technology, including a 19 minute piece titled "Owls at Noon Prelude: The Hollow Men" that can be seen at the The Museum of Modern Art in New York, NY.
