Death Summary: Cecil H. Underwood was admitted to Charleston Area Medical Center’s Memorial Hospital on November 23, 2008 for chest congestion. Upon examining the former Governor they found some slight bleeding in his brain, he died the very next day.
Who was Cecil H. Underwood : Underwood was a Republican politician from West Virginia. He was the 25th & 32nd Governor of the state. An office he held from 1957 – 1961 and from 1997 – 2001.
He ran for re-election again in 2000, but was defeated by Bob Wise.
Underwood was both the youngest and the oldest person to ever serve as the Governor of West Virginia.

I am just now finding out about the governor’s passing. Another confirmation that I will and must soon go east to re-connect with my family’s history and the part of the country I belong in. I am saddened that I will not now be able to meet Cecil in person, as i have wanted to for quite some time now. May the Creator be well pleased with the life and accomplishments of our brother Cecil Underwood, and peace and blessings be upon him. Glory to God.
