Buddy Holly
Born: 1936-09-07 - Died: 1959-02-03Cause of Death: Plane Crash
Death Summary: "The Day the Music Died", as Don McLean would call it was the day that Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and the Big Bopper (along with the plane's pilot) went down in a fatal plane crash.
It was determined that they all died on impact, and the cause of the crash was chalked up to "pilot error", although it was snowing when the plane took off.
Soon after Holly's death, his wife (of six months) lost their child who she was pregnant with.
Holly was buried in Lubbock Cemetery, and his name is spelled "Holley" on his tombstone. This was the correct spelling of his name.
Who was Buddy Holly : Buddy Holly was a rock n roll singer and guitarist in the 1950's when rock n roll was making a name for itself.
His work was an influence on both the Beatles and The Rolling Stones among many others.
His most popular hit was probably Peggy Sue Got Married.
