Edwards was born the son of a stage director, and his early life was spent in the entertainment business. Early on in his career, he started as both an actor and screenwriter. His big break came when he was called upon to write a script for the now famous Orson Welles' The War of the Worlds radio broadcast.
Edward's big cinematic feat came in 1961, with the highly acclaimed Breakfast at Tiffany's. The film was nominated for five Academy Awards, and won two of them. A year after he would follow up with the serious drama, Days of Wines and Roses.
In 1963, Edward's comedy The Pink Panther debuted. It was such a success that the film spawned an entire series, which ran until Son of the Pink Panther in 1993. The series released seven movies, with various levels of success.
In 1969, Edwards married Julie Andrews who was his wife until his death. The couple had five children, he is survived by all of them.

Rest in peace, Blake. Mrs. Edwards and the whole family: stay strong because that’s what Blake probably would have wanted. He will be sincerely missed by all, especially his loving and gorgeous wife. My heart bleeds for her and the family.
Long ago, a group of us were so fortunate to see Mr. and Mrs. Edwards work together on a TV series. I was in awe, of course, and so grateful.

I grew Up on The Pink Panther Movies at the drive ins with My Parents……..So Very sorry to hear of the Loss to the World…God will take good care of them….Their Passing is Never easy…I know..It is never easy..Blessings to the Family…
