Death Summary: Keightley was enjoying the opening day festivities of the Cincinnati Reds, and getting ready to watch their game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. While on the stairs of a bus, he fell suddenly and was taken to a local hospital. He later died at the same hospital.

The cause of his death turned out to be from internal bleeding cause from a previously undiagnosed tumor on his spine.

His memorial service was like a who's who from the college basketball world. Billy Gillispie, Rick Pitino, Billy Donovan, Rick Stansbury, and former Kentucky player John Pelphrey were all in attendence.

To show the respect Kentucky will not hire a new equipment manager for the 2009 season and also his seat will remain empty on the bench.

Who was Bill Keightley : Keightley aka Mr. Wildcat, was the equipment manager for the University of Kentucky men's basketball program, a position he held for 48 years.
