Who was Alan Poindexter :

Alan Poindexter (nicknamed "Dex") was a well-known Astronaut from Pasadena, California. Poindexter worked for NASA and was also a naval officer.

Alan Poindexter started his career at NASA in 1998, where he was positioned in the Astronaut Office Shuttle Operations Branch of the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. In May 2009, Poindexter also served as lead Capsule Communicator (CAPCOM) for the STS-125 mission to service the Hubble Telescope, as well as the launch CAPCOM for the STS-127 mission in July.

Alan Poindexter retired from NASA, and became Dean of Students and Executive Director of Programs at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.

    He was my hero and i am deeply saddened by this.I wish NASA TV could broadcast the funeral and the committal services.They should do that for every astronaut who dies as a tribute to a true american hero.
