Death Summary: Adam Cook finally succumbed to his disease on May 3, 2009. He had been diagnosed with brain cancer in 1998 and learned that it had spread to his spine in 2006.

Adam Cook was 36, and is survived by his wife Kendra and their two children.

David Cook announced the death of his brother at the 12th annual Race for Hope 5K in Washington D.C.

Simon Cowell, a judge on American Idol, told People that, "I met Adam Cook a few times at American Idol. He was an incredible guy, and right now my thoughts are with David and his family".

Who was Adam Cook : Cook was the older brother of David Cook, winner of American Idol 2008.

Cook, who was a Terre Haute, Indiana lawyer, flew to L.A. during the American Idol taping to see his brother perform... even though he was in the middle of extensive chemotherapy.

The flight cost about $80,000, and was paid for by friends and a local councilman. The flight was a chartered medical jet with medical staff on hand.
